In the 2008 film The Incredible Hulk, the main character is Dr. Bruce Banner, portrayed by Edward Norton. Banner is a brilliant scientist who, following a failed experiment involving gamma radiation and the "Super Soldier" program, transforms into a powerful, green-skinned behemoth known as the Hulk (voiced by Lou Ferrigno) whenever his heart rate exceeds 200 beats per minute or he is provoked by intense anger.
The film focuses on Banner’s life as a fugitive, his struggle to find a cure for his condition, and his conflict with General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross and the mutated soldier Emil Blonsky (The Abomination).
As a scientist on the run, Banner’s lines often reflect his desperation, his desire to be rid of the "monster" within, and dry humor regarding his predicament.
Unlike many later portrayals in the MCU where the Hulk becomes more talkative, the 2008 version is mostly non-verbal, making his few spoken words highly impactful.
The lines 'Hulk Smash' and 'Leave me alone' were added by director Louis Leterrier during post-production because fans wanted the Hulk to speak, which explains why they are limited.
In the 2008 film The Incredible Hulk, the main character is Dr. Bruce Banner, played by Edward Norton. The Hulk is voiced by Lou Ferrigno. Memorable lines include Banner's humorous mistranslation "Don't make me... hungry," his realization "Oh, shit!" before hitting the ground, and his explanation of Ross's motives: "He wants to make it a weapon." The Hulk himself has very few lines, most notably "Leave me alone" (his first words), "Betty," and the iconic "Hulk Smash!" which he roars during the final battle against the Abomination (specifically while stomping the ground to trap his opponent, distinct from the "Thunderclap" he uses earlier to put out a fire).
