3. The Missed Connection: They go to Stacy's house. Stacy invites Mark inside and eventually into her bedroom to look at a yearbook. She makes a romantic advance (unhooking her bra), but Mark, overwhelmed by Damone's advice to be "cool" and his own nervousness, panics and abruptly leaves. Stacy interprets this as rejection.
4. The Betrayal: Hurt and confused, Stacy pivots her attention to Damone. They hook up in a pool house (a brief, unsatisfactory encounter). Stacy becomes pregnant and eventually gets an abortion (where Damone flakes on paying or driving her, leaving her brother Brad to unknowingly assist).
5. The Confrontation: Mark discovers the truth about Stacy and Damone (often cited via graffiti or gossip). He confronts Damone in the school locker room, leading to a near-fight where Mark asserts himself.
6. Reconciliation: By the end of the school year (often associated with the prom or final days), Mark and Stacy make amends. In the final scenes, they are shown talking amicably, with Stacy giving Mark a photo of herself to remember her by, implying a renewed friendship or potential future romance.
