Jerry Goldsmith (February 10, 1929 – July 21, 2004) was an American composer who scored over 200 films and television episodes, winning one Academy Award (for The Omen, 1976) and earning 18 nominations. He scored Peter Hyams's Outland (1981). He studied composition under Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco alongside Henry Mancini and André Previn.
