Pinewood Studios Outland

Pinewood Studios is a major film and television studio located in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, England. It has been the home of British filmmaking since 1936 and is where Outland (1981) was filmed in 1980.

Outland used Pinewood's large stages for sets, miniatures, and Introvision

All of Outland's stage work — the interior sets of Con-Am 27, the miniature photography, and the Introvision compositing — was done at Pinewood. The studio's large stages were essential for the complex set builds and optical effects work.

Connery had filmed the Bond series at Pinewood for two decades before Outland

By 1980, Pinewood was the studio where the James Bond franchise had been based since Dr. No (1962). Sean Connery, of course, had spent years there filming Bond. His return to Pinewood for Outland meant working in many of the same facilities where he'd become a global star two decades earlier.

Other major productions filmed at Pinewood around the same period include Superman (1978), Alien (1979), The Empire Strikes Back (1980), and For Your Eyes Only (1981).
