Is this true? Has the Secretary of Navy threatened to resign if Trump overrides the decision to expel a commando implicated in war crimes? Has the admiral who leads the SEALs?

..

First we note this appears to come from the NYT. Which is a trstworthy source. And the little blurb here seems to match the framing we get in the tweet -- that top military officials are threatening to resign if the plans to remove Gallagher from the seals are halted.

Unfortunately, the NYT puts its articles behind a paywall. So we're going to find an alternate source.

We search, then switch to news the news tab, since this is breaking news.

..

We scan the page and don't find much -- though this might be because the story is so recent. Still, let's tweak the search.

..

When we make the search simpler, we pull up another recent story. Unlike the NYT one we can read this one. Let's do that.

..

Note that the Secretary of the Navy hasn't stated his threat to resign publicly, but has communicated that to others.

..

It's four anonymous sources, of course (though keep in mind they are not anonymous to the reporters). But it's also true that it would be highly unusual for resignation threats to be made publicly. This seems like a solid story at the moment.
